Why Eastern Sierra?

IMG_2857.jpg

Eastern Sierra is special to us. We spend many summers fly fishing, motorcycling, soaking in hot springs, exploring the Long Valley Caldera, or just simply being in the mountains. We love having crystal clear alpine lakes to our right and high desert to our left when cruising down the 395. We are thrilled to share our favorite place with you and celebrate the special weekend together.

Getting There and Where to Stay

We are excited to spend the weekend with you in Mammoth, at the same time we are also insanely grateful and appreciative for the effort of you coming out to Mammoth from all over the globe.

We have compiled some tips for getting to Mammoth. We have also negotiated discounted rate at the Westin Monache Resort and various other local hotels (accommodation details below). Mammoth is a very popular summer destination. We recommend that you book your accommodation as soon as possible.

TRANSPORTATION
Driving

From Northern California / Bay Area

Driving from the Bay Area/NorCal areas will take approximately 5-6 hours.  During the summer, those arriving via this route will enjoy the best scenery of all routes to Mammoth.  There are many options to travel over the Sierras depending on how far north you live. Try the Sonora Pass (Highway 108), which is highly recommended. You can also use Tioga Pass (Highway 120) and enter through the spectacular Yosemite National Park. However be aware that you will have to pay a park fee to go through Highway 120. If you have never been to Yosemite, the fee will very well be worth it!

From Los Angeles

Driving from Southern California can be done in 5-6 hours.  We highly recommended an early start time to avoid as much traffic as possible.  Take the 5 north, to Highway 14 north, to Highway 395 north. Exit on Highway 203 for Mammoth Lakes.

From San Diego / Orange County

Driving from the San Diego area will take approximately 6-7 hours and from the Orange County area will take approximately 6 hours. From San Diego, you can take the 15 north, to Highway 395 north. Exit on Highway 203 for Mammoth Lakes. From Orange County, you can take the 15 to the 395 OR the 5 to the 14. Sometimes one route is quicker than the other (check Google Maps or Waze).

We highly recommend using Waze, Google Maps or Here WeGo for navigation. You might not have service during parts of the drive. It would be a good idea to download the map ahead of the time.

FLYING

United operates the only non-stop flights to Mammoth Yosemite Airport (MMH) from Los Angeles (LAX) in the summer. There is only one flight each way everyday.

UA 5598   2:36 PM   LAX     -      3:54 PM   MMH

UA 5949   4:31 PM  MMH   -      5:53 PM    LAX
